SCHOOL PROFILE

Werris Creek is a town of approximately 1484 people situated 45 kms south west of Tamworth. It boasts amenities that include a hospital, Day Care Centre and Library. There are a number of service clubs and community organisations active in the town.

Werris Creek Public School occupies a site of approximately 3 hectares. The buildings are set in very attractive grounds highlighted by a large number of trees and shrubs.

The school consists of seven classrooms, a large library, a modern multi-purpose food service unit, a separate administration block and staff room.

Current enrolment is 136 pupils.

There is strong community support for the school. We have a large number of parents and citizens come into our school every day in a variety of roles.

A strong P. & C. actively supports the school. Through fund raising and canteen operation they have provided many resources for our pupils.

The school is well equipped physically with each class having a number of computers. Our computer system is networked and each class room has access to the internet. This has allowed for the implementation of technology into teaching. Our well equipped library boasts a large range of books and Macintosh and C.D. Rom facilities.

Each year we produce a musical. Last year we performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

A Caring Environment

Werris Creek Primary School offers a safe and caring environment where each child is actively encouraged to fulfil his/her potential. The experienced and approachable teaching staff are in touch with the changing needs of students and aim to develop well-mannered, responsible and confident citizens. The friendly atmosphere of the school is enhanced by a comprehensive and structured Student Support Policy where children are made accountable for their own actions and the consequences arising from them.
